Our commitments

More than just a trade…

Our tannery is situated in the stunning Haut Languedoc Regional Natural Park, surrounded by the rivers, lakes and forests of the Montagne Noire mountain range.

Aware of these unique roots, Alran S.A.S prioritises the development of its knowledge and skills locally, and is committed to preserving its surrounding region.

The material

“Treating our raw materials with the utmost humility, to ensure we use them in the best possible way.”

We source our hides from the world’s best goat farms, which have become our long-term partners. This allows us to guarantee traceability, which is essential in our industry.

After an exacting, systematic selection process, raw hides are allocated to making various items, depending on the related requirements. This detailed inspection of the materials from the very start of the production process allows each hide to be enhanced and a use found for all purchases. This optimisation logic also applies to all of our waste, which is reused in the best possible way.

From raw hide to finished leather, we verify the entire dyeing and retanning, crusting and finishing process internally. By doing this in-house, we guarantee the quality of our products and ensure complete confidentiality for our clients.

We update our product range each season by innovating (colours and materials) and investing in the latest techniques.

Our team

“Passing on ancestral knowledge and skills and developing an extensive range of leathers.”

Our 25-strong team has cultivated traditional knowledge and skills in shagreen leatherwork, while embracing the most innovative finishing techniques.

Due to the precise nature of the artisanal methods, the utmost rigour and careful organisation is necessary to ensure expertise is preserved. Our team is forward-thinking, working in pairs for training purposes and prioritising simple, facts-based communication and the fulfilment of commitments.

Finally, we invest to ensure work stations are user-friendly and prioritise safe working conditions.

The environnement

“Reducing our impact.”

Tanning allows raw hides, a by-product of the meat industry, to be recycled. Our tannery therefore plays a key role in the circular economy.

We use innovative solutions to reuse waste so that it can, in turn, become raw materials, helping to protect the environment and preserve resources. Thanks to these partners, a very large proportion of our waste is now reused or recycled.

Protecting waterways

By treating our sewage a first time (physicochemical) internally, at our on-site wastewater treatment facility, followed by a second (biological) treatment by a municipal wastewater treatment facility.

Preserving the climate

By reducing greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption by prioritising use of low-carbon power.

Certifications and accreditations

A testament to our dedication and efforts

As part of our Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR) approach, we are an active member of the Leather Working Group (LWG), a foundation that enforces precise and demanding industry standards.

Our accreditation is reviewed every two years following an in-depth audit. The inspection assesses the supply chain, environmental practices, health and safety and processes implemented, in particular to demonstrate that the process is not harmful.

We are an Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (Living heritage company), an accreditation awarded by the French government to companies that meet strict standards, with a focus on uniqueness and rare knowledge and skills. The accreditation must be renewed every four years.

We produce exceptional leathers which have a limited environmental impact and take a forward-looking approach.
